Minister of Culture opening SOSHANA exhibition
Yesterday evening Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture, has opened, in cooperation with the Autrian Ministery of Culture, an exhibition of the Austrian painter SOSHANA at the Art Center.
Being an experienced artist, SOSHANA visualises in flamboyant colours her many ways of life, her experiences and the events that have shaped her opinions and her understanding of art. Many important persons and art-lovers visited the exhibition. The Austrian ambassador acknowledged the Minister's role in her engagement for cultural and artistic exchange. The son of the artist gave his thanks to the Ministery of Culture for its appreciation of his mother's exhibition and for its interest in the dialogue between different cultures on the basis of one same vision. The artist SOSHANA allows us in this exhibition to take a look inside her life, which was shaped by her journeys around the world and her long-term residences abroad and which have shaped her paintings into the detail. With her pictures, SOSHANA is opening her biography and her personality and shows her audience, what she has brought with her from all the continents.
Since her childhood SOSHANA was influenced by many cultures. A fertile ground for a lot of phantasy. Her first successful exhibition in 1948 made the her famous with only 21 years.
